The Daily Pivot Reversal System
A daily pivot is a set of price lines worked out from yesterday's high, low and close. The main one is the central pivot, which sits near the middle of yesterday's action, and around it sit three support lines below and three resistance lines above, labelled S1 to S3 and R1 to R3. You do not have to do the maths, because almost every charting platform draws them for you. What they give you is a clean map of the levels a lot of other traders are already watching for the day ahead.
The central pivot acts like a dividing line for the mood of the day. When price is trading above it the buyers have the upper hand, and when it is below the sellers do. The reversal system leans on the support and resistance lines rather than the middle. Price tends to slow down and often turns when it reaches one of them, so the plan is to watch S1 or S2 in an uptrend for a bounce back up, and R1 or R2 in a downtrend for a rejection back down.
The trade itself is straightforward once price reaches a level. You wait for a candle to reject the line and close back in your direction as confirmation, rather than assuming the level will hold. Your stop sits just beyond that pivot line, so the risk is small and defined, and a natural target is the next pivot line along. The levels work best when the wider trend agrees and volume backs the move, and they mean little on a quiet, sideways day. As with everything here, win rate and risk management decide the outcome over time, so backtest it on real history before you trade it with money.
Watch it traded live
Here is Black Girl Stocks planning and executing a trade around exactly this kind of level. Notice how the idea comes first, then the entry, then the management.
What to take from it
- She reads the day's lean from the central pivot first, then hunts trades in that direction instead of fighting it.
- She pairs the levels with a MACD crossover and a volume spike, so a bounce has more than one reason behind it before she takes it.
- She is clear about when to sit out. A quiet, low volume day stuck near the middle is a day to skip rather than force.
